Zhejiang Tongji Vocational College of Science and Technology, founded in January 2003 with the approval of People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, is a state-owned full-time vocational college which is under the direct leadership of the Department of Water Resources of Zhejiang Province. The college covers an area of 327 mu (21.8 hectares), whose total floor space of school buildings is 112,000 square meters. There are 204 faculty members at present, among whom 64 teachers are associate professors or professors, 52 possess master’s degrees or postgraduate diplomas, and 78 are qualified as “double role” teachers. It has 4300 full-time students.

The college has established complete teaching facilities matching with various teaching requirements, including 15 advanced and characteristic laboratories and practical training sites with a floor space around 10,000 square meters, and 15 stable off-campus practical training bases which can meet all teaching needs. There are now almost 200000 paper books, 225 kinds of periodicals, 30000 electronic books and an advanced and well-equipped electronic reading room. There is a local area network which covers all administration departments of the college and it is connected to the networks such as the international network, and hydraulic network etc, providing a large-scale information service and online teaching.

Relying on water conservancy industry and supported by the discipline advantages of Tongji University, the college takes general majors relating to Civil Engineering as its main body, with majors relating to Architecture Art, Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power as its features. The college makes great efforts for educational reform to integrate theory with practice and attaches primary importance to the development of students’ practical abilities and abilities to start an undertaking. It aims to serve economical construction and social development by cultivating high quality, high ability vocational students with technical talents needed in such areas as production, construction and management.
